Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands was founded in 1998 and is a non-profit association and NGO with the fundamental aim of cultivating international understanding, understanding, cooperation and solidarity in accordance with UNESCO principles and ideals. It is an extremely active player in the field of self-funded projects, and operates in 4 main areas of activity: culture, education, society and the environment. It attaches great importance to the cultivation of a culture of peace through non-formal and informal learning activities, cultural and voluntary activities as well as information campaigns aimed directly or indirectly at combating racism and discrimination.
Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands created integrated Poverty Reduction Centers. Our social structures have been divided into STRUCTURES OF BASIC NEED (2 Social Grocery, 2 food supply structure and 1 social pharmacy) and STRUCTURES FOR THE HOMELESS (3 Open Day Center for the Homeless and 3 Dormitories). In general we provide:
- 10.000 meals per month
- 200 distributions of food packages, clothing and other essentials per month
- 5000 overnight stays per month
- Medicins to more than 100 people living on the edge of poverty and homeless people in a monthly base
- More than 2000 consolatory services per month
Furthermore Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands organizes many cultural events, festivals, conferences, exhibitions of paintings, and gives its aegis to literature events, theatrical events, concerts and many more…
Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands has participated in many programs concerning the supports of the immigrants such as PERSPECTIVE, VINCE and CREATIVE PRISMA.
